This section contains the pre-installation checklist, installation notes or observations, and post-installation tasks. Review these steps to plan and deploy Netwrix Auditor Data Discovery and Classification:
|Prepare evaluation server and test data|
Prepare your test data set (up to 100,000 files) and ensure it is accessible over the network from the Netwrix evaluation server using your test account.
Make sure your evaluation server is suitable for running all the Data Discovery and Classification solution components including a standalone SQL Server instance for.
Make sure your evaluation account is granted local administrator permissions on the server.
Deploy prerequisite Windows features and additional software.
|Install and configure DDC Collector|
Create an empty DDC Collector database and apply the recommended database settings.
Run Netwrix_Auditor_DDC_Collector.exe and specify your DDC Collector database in the setup wizard.
Make sure the DDC Collector web console is up and running by opening it in your web browser.
Activate DDC Collector by applying your evaluation license.
Add your user account to the DDC Collector user list to restrict access to sensitive data.
Load the default taxonomies with predefined classification rules.
|11||(Optional) Add image file extensions to the inclusions list and turn on embedded image processing to enable indexing and classification of document scans.|
Add your test data location as a content source using the default connection settings.
|Install and configure Netwrix Auditor|
Run Netwrix_Auditor.exe and select Full Installation in the setup wizard.
Create a new Windows File Server monitoring plan and apply the recommended data source settings.
Add the test file location as a monitoring item under the File Servers data source.
|Configure DDC Provider|
Run the DDCConfiguration.exe tool, toggle the Enable DDC Provider slider and specify the DDC Collector database to enable reporting data synchronization between DDC Collector and Netwrix Auditor.
|Review classification results|
Locate the folder under the predefined reports section in the Netwrix Auditor console.
Start by reviewing the Sensitive Files Count by Source report for an overview of the sensitive data discovery findings.
